No Joy in Houston

Congrats to the White Sox. It was a good series. Yes it was a sweep but it was not a blow out by any means and things could have went our way very easily.

As we say in baseball, "There is always next season"

Oh! somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville -- mighty Casey has struck out.

Oni-con 2005

I have let myself be talked into taking the kid to the second annual Houston Anime convention, Oni-con, tomorrow.

I let myself be talked into going to the first one last year and if you seach the site I am sure you will find the post and pictures. I am too lazy and tired to look right now.

I forgot to post about my trip to the Dentist last Monday. A week ago today one of my crowns popped out. He was too busy to see me then so he directed me to go to any drugstore, but temporary cement and stick it in myself. While not thrilled about this I did as instructed and it worked pretty well until Monday when Kelly, my favorite dental asst. easily took it out. I complained about some soreness in my gums while he was preping me to put the crown back so he took a look and decided to take an Zray. The long and short of it is I have to go back this Monday for a root canal, he gave me some antibiotic but I woke up this morning and my jaw felt swollen. I now have a stronger antibiotic. I have pain pills too but I won't be able to use them because this convention is near where I used to work by the Astrodome and I don't want to be groggy on the long drive back.

So if you happen to be at Oni-con and see a bemused older guy,maybe in pain, maybe with a laptop say hi.

The kid wanted to know why I was bringing the laptop. She is meeting some friends so I thought while they were running around I could sit and watch some anime or something.

"Dad, no one watches anime at an anime convention!"

Who knew.

On the other hand

I will not be conflicted when the Astros beat the Cards to play the winner of the Angels-White Sox series.

GO ASTROS!!

Expectations

the Yankess season is over.
I have only one thing to say at this point.
When your back is up against the wall in the 9th inning and there are no outs, a man on first and the highest paid player in baseball at the plate it is reasonable to expect him to not hit into a double play.

A-Rod had a good season but in the post season he has been a big BUST.

Baseball Weekend

Off to see the Astros today and tomorrow. I hope they do a lot batter than last night.

The Yankees didn't do so well either.

Both teams need to win their last two games and everything will be fine.

I have am as worried about the Astros as I am about the Yankess but then they are not playing the Red Sox.
