Testing

I have not used this in a while so I want to check if it still works.
Lots of crazy stuff going on right now so I guess I should make some posts while I am still able to.

NBC-Not News Network

This is just deplorable.
Someone had NBC should be hung for this or at least lose their job but it looks like they are going to whitewash it and hope no one notices. Fat chance.

During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret. We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers.

White wash.
Need some Tar and feathers.

Talk shows Past Part 2

From there I navigated to a 5 parter that Phil Donahue did with Ayn Rand during the late 70's.

Great stuff from a great woman, see them all.

Movie Nausea

Took the family to see Wall e yesterday.
Cute movie but the theater was packed which put us in the second row and all the herky jerky action of the movie started to get to me at about the half way point.
I had to bail out and on the way back from the men's room (no I didn't get sick, just needed some air and a break so I took care of other business too) I saw a single seat near the exit and grabbed it.
That was much better though at parts I still had to look away. The BW however got concerned and started searching for me. I am not sure why she didn't use her cell phone but that is her.

Things you never knew

This headline from this mornings Fox News website:

Official: Hurricane Rita Victims 'Living Like Cavemen, Sleeping In Cars'

Who knew that cavemen had cars? Watching TV and reading I always though they slept in caves, hence the name Cavemen. Well you learn something new everyday.

Another First

At least it is the first time I saw it. CNBC's Squawk Box had a segment titled Blogs add Profits. Maybe there might be some money in this stuff after all.

Ad a note of caution the host suggested at the end that the money might come to Lawyers wanting to sue Bloggers.

You know CNN is Desparate

when they begin advertizing the Paula Zahn show on Fox News during the O'Reilly Factor.
I was surprised but I guess they can read the ratings as well as anyone and know where the people are.

Rathergate

I have not written about this recently (you haven't written about anything recently(I know I know)) but two statements by Dan Rather struck me as very interesting and illustrative of why Dan has outlived his relevance and should be let out to pasture.

First his statement that while the docments may be fake the substance is true. How arrogant. Not only arrogant but what he is saying is that if a cop knows that someone is guilty of something then it is ok to plant false evidence to put that person in jail. No wonder Dan was able to get an interview with Saddam, they seem to have a lot in common in the methods they think are acceptable.

Second is his recent statement that is there is something wrong with the statement he wants to be the one who breaks the story. DUH!!
This transends arrogance to such a degree that it makes me think that Dan has lost touch with reality. He has been trying to cover up while others have been calling for an investigation since his original broadcast.

I think that Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston and Dan rather have something in common. The difference is that Dan did not pull himself off the public stage before his loss caused him to embarass himself and his organization.

Links are all over the place but Roger or Glenn are good places to start if you have been in isolation all week.

Busy August

Not normally a big news month this August is shaping up as a busy one.
Right now the spotlight is on Arnold but Kobe is taking up a lot of news time also.

Right on the horizon waiting to blow both of them away is the capture of Saddam.

Of course we will be cursed with more terror attacks also.

Meet the Press

I sat through the entire thing and managed to do it on only one shot of JDsb.It was pretty much as I expected. Carl Levin is one of the most partisan people in congress and he didn't miss a chance. Funny I never noticed it before but his eyebrows slant upwards and in. It kind of makes his whole face look like a steeple. Andrea was biased as ever. Tim makes you think he is even handed, Andrea can't pull that off.
The funniest moment of the show was during the panel discussion when Bob Novak suggested that the Fed should have dropped the rate 50 bais points. Andrea is married to Alan Greenspan and quickly said "Well I can't make any comment on that."
The good thing about watching it on tape was that I was able to fast forward through parts.

I got my Meet the Press

I managed to tape it it when it was re-broadcast late last might on CNBC. When I found out that Andrea Mitchell was sitting in for Tim and that the vile Carl Levin was one of the guests I knew I would have to get something to get me through the tape. I went down to the local store and bought some cigars and a bottle of JD Single barrel. Did you know that the actual number of the barrel the bottle comes from is imprinted on the neck label? Good stuff but at $35 per bottle a bit pricey for me. I hope it doesn't take much to get me through the program.
