Traffic

Yeah, I didn't post last night but I am not always in the mood and ... shit,
I just moved closer to the desk bumped th computer with my knee and now it is humming up a storm, there now it stopped, something with the fan but the last time I opened it up things got worse so I am letting it be.

Where was I , oh yeah last night.

I had yesterday planned out pretty well I would skip lunch get out at 5 grab my check and take the beltway home. That's the Sam Houston Tollway for you non-Houstonians.

more in extended entry.

As lunchtime approached I was informed that we would have a meeting at 2, maybe.

Ok, so I will get my check at lunchtime instead. Using a combination of roads and highway I got there in 45 minutes and back in 30. Great, long lunch, but since I have been getting in a 7:45 its ok. Leaving at 6:30 getting me to work at 7:45. Leaving at 6:45 gets me to work at 8:15 or even 8:30. TRAFFIC!!!

Of course the meeting never happened and will be the week after next instead since a lot of the folks we need to meet with will be out of town next week.

Coming home the first thing I heard on the radio was that there were tow accidents on I45 and traffic was backed up to downtown, not good. As I got closer and closer to downtown I racked my rapidly increasing knowledge of alternative side streets for another route. Nothing. Getting to and trough downtown was pretty much normal for 5:30, slow, crowded but moving.
Just after downtown I hit the bumper to bumper stuff. Luckily coming from New York even the worst Houston traffic doesn't really bother me but I still hate sitting in traffic.

As we finally got closer to the Loop (I610) I remembered I could go up North Shepherd at that point and get off I45 entirely which was rapidly slowing down to 5 mph. Of course I was in the left lane at that point and the loop exit was coming up, not exactly fast but close. Using my long unused but not forgotten taxi driving skills I managed to get over to the exit in plenty of time and was rewarded with the Loop being pretty fast. N. Sheperd was moving but it is no secret and I wasn't the only who had detoured that way. I made a mistake in not bailing onto another side street before hitting the Tomball parkway and payed for that with an extra 10 mintues waiting at a left turn signal that only left 6 cars through each cycle.

I called the wife when I finally hit the TP (I love cell phones) and asked about dinner. She suggested Church's, I instead directed her to the kitchen where I had left a menu for a chinese place in town and asked her to call it in.

The chinese place is one of if not the best chinese place in Tomball, that is not saying a lot but the food is not bad and the service is good. They were pretty busy tonight especially with take out so I had to wait, it was after 7 by now and I had left work around 5.
Oh I forgot, I had to make a pitstop after getting on the TP so I hit a Jack in the box and bought a .99 burger to pay for the use of their facilities.

I finally got home around 7:30 and by the time I finished my food and checked email I just didn't have a post in me though I seem to have made up for it this morning.
