This day in History

Legend is that the great inventor Daedalus was imprisoned by King Minos of Crete in a high tower to punish him after the failure of his labyrinth to prevent Theseus from defeating the Minotaur escaping with the Kings' daugther.

Daedalus created a pair of wings to escape his imprisonment and built a smaller set for his son Icarus. Icarus flew to high and the sun melted the wax that his wings were held in place with causing him to crash and die.

One hundred years ago today two brothers from Dayton Ohio attempted to fly and the world has not been the same since.
