Humiliation

I have been hearing a lot about the humiliation that the Arabs have suffered with the capture of Saddam. The latest being this article but it is not been the first.

Thomas Freidman wrote an Op-Ed about it last month. You can't read the whole thing at that link because it moved into the Times' paid section but Roger, Charles and David all posted about it.
Now the Guardian brings up the H-word again, this time in relation to Saddam.

From where I sit there is plenty for the Arabs to be humiliated about. They should be humiliated that they didn't back us in kicking Saddam out of power.
They should be humiliated that they have not forced Arafat to reach a peace with Israel but mostly they should be humiliated that their own countries remain such basket cases after decades of pumping millions of barrels of black gold out of the ground beneath their feet.
They should be humiliated that their education system is a joke and that they can't compete in the modern world. They should be humiliated that they can't even keep the technology they buy running but are forced to import tens of thousands to do the work for them.

Yes there is a lot of humiliation to go around in the Arab world and most of it is self inflicted.
