Bad Car Day

I have been having problems with my car recently. I don't want to link to those posts because it would be too painful. Today I went somewhere new because the car was making a cricket like sound. The guy looked at, sprayed some lube on a belt and it was fixed, fine.
Next thing he say is:
"you know your timing belt case is broken?"
I look at it and it is, in fact I remember it was like that when I got my car back from the old garage I used.
Easy to fix, cheap, yes and no.
It is a $30 part but it will take 3 hours labor or $225.
Then he says:
"The guys who replaced your timing belt should have fixed that when they were doing it."

He suggests I take it back to the guys, who have already in my mind proven their incompetence, and ask them to fix it.
I don't know if I want to give me cay over to their care again, who knows what will be wrong when I get it back this time?
I am leaning to eating the $200+ and just letting the new guy do it.

What do you guys think?
