Harry Potter
I finished the book about 2 days ago around 2:20am.It is ok but not earth shattering. Don't get me wrong I did like it especially since my other reading materials these days are things like C# Essentials.
It does not seem to grab me like some other books I have read in the same genre. One thing I did notice that there are remarkable similarities between it and the Belgariad series by David Eddings which I like a lot more and generally regard as a much better series.
In both series the heroes are orphans where their parents were killed by the ultimate bad guy or his agent. Both are involved in a prophecy where they are destined to battle the ultimate bad guy to the death.
Both are teenagers who are pretty self absorbed with themselves (like all teens) and are constantly complaining about why they should be thrust into their predicaments.
Maybe Eddings is just a better writer than Rowlings. I have read the Belgariad series several times but doubt I will re-read Harry Potter anytime soon.
