New puppy

Ever since our dog Silver passed away my dog Shadow has been pretty lonely. We have been looking for a new pup to keep him company and finally found one two weeks ago.
Introducing the new member of our family Blaze.

Yes there is a little bit of white on his tail but his name is from the large white spot on his chest which I will show in a later picture.

A good Dog gone

We moved into our house in Jan 1997. A few days before that I kept my promise to my daughter and got her the puppy we told her she could get when we moved into a house.

I also got myself one since I thought hers would need a playmate. It worked out pretty well except hers, who was the runt of the litter, was too danged smart. The kid named her Silver and she was an escape artist of the highest order and much too smart

The first thing my daughter taught her was how to climb the steps tp the second floor. Late at night after that lesson had been learned my daughter groggily stumbled into out room complaining that the dogs wouldn't let her go to sleep. My dog didn't want to be separated from het but could yet get to the second floor.

She was also the ringleader and led my dog into lots of adventures whenever she could figure out how to escape. It did make it somewhat easier when going after them since once I grabbed a hold of her Shadow, my dog, would follow along back to the kennel would no problem.

Just a few days ago even sick she found a new way to break out of the kennel.

Silver passed away yesterday. She had been sick and we were giving her shots and others things but when we checked on her in the morning she was gone. She was not in any pain which at least was good.

Shadow misses her very much and in spite of all the trouble she was so do I.

This is a picture of her from 2001 which is how I will always remember her.

RIP Silver.

The Price of being Nice - Part 2

As an update the cat in question appears to be fine.

As for myself I had X-ray on Monday and it looks like I broke something in my leg. I will know how badly tomorrow after seeing the doctor.

The Price of Being Nice

A while ago we had a moma cat invade our garage. We didn't know it was a moma until several weeks later we found 4 kittens. The moma disappeared one day and we have been taking care of the kittens since.
One we found dead one day in the back part were we run the dogs. We assumed the dogs had gotten to it.

This morning I couldn't sleep so I gave up aroun 4:45 got dressed and let the dogs out as I usually do. After a few minutes I heard the dogs making noises so I got my flashlight and went out back to see that they had gotten one of the kittens up a tree. Just as I got there the kitten fell down and they pounced on it.
I tried to pull them off and ended up on the ground. My slippers came off and I continued to try and pull them off barefoot. Finally I got the smaller dog, who is for some reason the more vicious off, and the larger one came to my command. I pulled the smaller one into the house by the collar and went looking for the cat but I couldn't find him which I suppose is good.

I hope he is in better shape then I am. This happened about 20 or more minutes ago and I am still short of breath. My right leg and ankle feel like they have been twisted into some new shape and my arms don't feel so good either.

I hope the cat is ok.

New Arrivals

I have neglected to introduce the new members of our household.
Originally the trip to the local pet store was just to get a new cat for my daughter whose cat got poisoned on something.
We went to the pet store thinking they would not have what she was looking for but of course they had 3 kittens and one was black just as she wanted.
That would not have been so bad but my wife took a shine to one of the others,
"Look at that face"
Of course I could have said no but I guess I am not that type of guy.
Now of course my wife has a new kitten and so does my wife and while I am watching TV guess whose lap they have both decided they like to sit in.
AARRGHHHH!

Anyway so here are the new members of our household, Minuet and Hiei (named after one of the characters in my daughter's favorite Anime shows).

Sad Days

It is never a good thing to lose a pet as my friend and the designer behind this site Joni has just done.

We have also had a recent loss as my daugther's cat Moonlight who was only 18 months old passed away last week. His kitty picture is here. We think he was poisoned by something he stepped on while exploring under the sink. Possibly the same thing that killed her other cat several months ago.

We have cleaned out everything under the sink and I will be putting in latches before she gets another cat. Hopefully it won't happen again.

It is never easy to lose a pet.
